The State Key Laboratory of Geomechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (SKLGME), founded in 2007 under the auspices of Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology, is hosted by the Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. As one of premier research institutions in China, SKLGME is dedicated to fundamental research and technological innovation in Geomechanics and Geotechnical Engineering. Currently, SKLGME has more than 60 talented full-time employees, including one fellow of Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), 5 recipients of Outstanding Youth Fund of the National Science Foundation of China (NSFC), 11 scholars of the One-Hundred Talents Program of Chinese Academy of Sciences.

 
Oriented to the strategic needs in national and global development, SKLGME has conducted a large number of significant research projects, providing technical support and professional service for designing infrastructure systems protecting environment and fostering the use of natural resources.
